Identify the generation first

Tension Lover: the model number matters.

An original Tension Lover listing and a Tension Lover 2 listing describe different devices. Check the generation before comparing features.

The original model used in our comparison

This guide uses the original Mystim Tension Lover, documented in the 2016 manual, as the reference for its comparison table. It has two channels, seven programmes and a 9 V battery. The documented pulse-width range is 50–260 microseconds, with frequency settings from 1–160 Hz and a 10–60 minute timer.

These specifications help identify the original unit. They should not be copied into a description of every product carrying the Tension Lover name. When buying a used device, ask for the exact model designation and its corresponding manual.

A different approach to control

The original manual describes onboard programmes and directly adjustable pulse parameters. It does not document an audio input or app/computer control. That makes the device a different proposition from platforms whose main attraction is an external audio source or a software connection.

If standalone settings meet your requirements, consider how clearly you can identify the active programme and adjust the available parameters. If remote access is a requirement, start with the other devices in this guide and check their specific interfaces.

What to check on Tension Lover 2

The newer model is described with a rechargeable battery and USB-C, rather than the original 9 V battery arrangement. Treat its programmes, timer and included accessories as a separate specification. An offer that combines original-model photographs with newer-model features needs clarification from the seller.

Use the manufacturer page linked below to identify the current version. A USB-C connector describes a physical interface; it should not be taken as evidence of computer control unless that function is explicitly documented.

Use the right comparison questions

Ask whether you need audio, software control, additional channels or direct onboard pulse adjustment. Then compare the exact model against MK312-BT, 2B and ZC95. The differences are clearer when your requirements are written down first.

TENS-related terminology is not a shortcut for establishing equivalence between devices. A programme label or an overlapping frequency range does not establish matching circuitry or output behaviour. Follow the manual supplied for the actual device and use that specification as the basis for accessory questions.

Your questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers before you choose.

Which Tension Lover is in the table?

The original model with a 9 V battery and seven programmes. Version 2 is discussed separately.

Does USB-C on Version 2 imply computer control?

No. A charging connector alone does not establish a data-control function.
